Description

The Lares Trek to Machu Picchu (4 Days) is an off-the-beaten-path route and one of the best alternatives to the Classic Inca Trail. Unlike other treks, the Lares Trek to Machu Picchu is a combination of nature, culture, and adventure.

This trek offers beautiful scenery and takes you through the rich pastoral regions of the Urubamba Mountain Range. You will cross snow-capped peaks and subtropical valleys, and be rewarded with views of scenic lagoons and natural hot springs, as well as Inca ruins.

The local people you will meet in the Lares Valley have preserved their traditions and customs. They continue practicing their traditional weaving techniques, creating colorful garments from llama and alpaca wool. Local families here are also known for cultivating different varieties of potatoes.

The Lares Trek to Machu Picchu is an immersive experience that allows you to observe the customs and homes of Andean communities up close.

This is a high-altitude trek, with the highest point reaching 3,150 meters (10,335 feet) above sea level. We recommend spending enough time in Cusco to acclimatize properly and avoid altitude sickness. To make the most of your time in Cusco, you can choose to visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas or hike to Inkilltambo for an introduction to the region’s Inca heritage.
