Day 1: Cusco – Abra de Málaga – Ipal Ecolodge – Coffee Farm
We begin the Bird and Coffee Tour Huayopata very early with a departure from Cusco. We will travel toward Abra de Málaga, located at 4,230 meters above sea level, to admire the glaciers of the Verónica mountain. During the descent toward the valley, we will begin birdwatching in their natural habitat. You will be able to see brightly colored tanagers and exotic hummingbirds such as the Sword-billed Hummingbird. Likewise, we will identify unique species like the Inca Wren and various raptors soaring over the cloud forest.
Upon arriving at Ipal Ecolodge, you will enjoy a typical lunch surrounded by gardens full of wildlife. In the afternoon, we will visit an artisanal Coffee Farm to discover its entire production process. You will learn about cultivation, selective harvesting, and the preparation of handmade organic coffee. This experience awakens all the senses and allows you to appreciate the coffee-growing tradition of Huayopata. After dinner at the lodge, we will have an optional night excursion to observe tropical owls. Finally, you will rest in the total tranquility of the Cusco high jungle.
Day 2: Ipal Ecolodge – Calquiña – Cusco
The second day of the Bird and Coffee Tour Huayopata starts with an energetic breakfast in front of the bird feeders.
