This 4-day adventure is a total immersion into Andean magic. From the relaxing Lares hot springs to the imposing citadel of Machu Picchu, every step tells a story of resilience and beauty. Itinerario

  • 05:00 hrs | Start: We pick you up at your hotel in Cusco to travel toward Calca, in the Sacred Valley.
  • Total Relaxation: After a two-hour drive, we arrive at the Lares hot springs. You will enjoy a nutritious lunch and a soak in medicinal pools surrounded by mountains.
  • The Trekking Begins: We will hike approximately 4 hours along ascending trails toward Huancawasi. Glacial views will accompany you during this first leg.
  • Night Under the Stars: We will have dinner and rest at our campsite in Huancawasi.
  • The Great Challenge: After a morning coca tea, we ascend to the Huancawasi Pass (14,108 ft / 4,300 m).
  • The summit offers panoramic views of hidden valleys and lagoons.
  • Cultural Immersion: We descend toward Auroruy Cocha for lunch. Along the way, you will meet communities dedicated to artisanal weaving and agriculture.
  • Yanahuara: We continue the descent to the campsite in Yanahuara for dinner and rest.
  • Sacred Valley: We take a short hike before boarding the bus to Ollantaytambo.
  • Inca Capital: We will explore the plazas and temples of this ancient strategic ceremonial center. You will have time to visit the local market and admire the intact Inca architecture.
  • Heading to the Sanctuary: We board the train to Aguas Calientes to spend the night in a comfortable hotel.
  • The Wonder: We visit Machu Picchu very early. You will have a 2-hour guided tour of the most important temples and terraces.
  • Return: We descend to Aguas Calientes to take the return train to Ollantaytambo and then our private transportation to Cusco.

Recomendaciones

  • Acclimatization: Arrive in Cusco at least 2 days before the start. Avoid alcohol and stay well-hydrated.
  • Physical Preparation: This is a moderate to demanding trek. Perform cardiovascular training weeks in advance.
  • Daypack: Carry a small backpack with sunscreen, repellent, and at least 3 liters of water.
  • Clothing: Dress in layers. Include thermal clothing, a waterproof jacket, gloves, and a hat for the nighttime cold.
  • Footwear: It is vital to use waterproof trekking boots that are already “broken in.”
  • Local Respect: Interact with Quechua communities with consideration and respect for their culture.

Our team sets up toilet tents at the campsites. In local communities, facilities are basic.

We include a duffel bag so the horses can carry part of your personal gear. You only carry your daypack.

The dry season, from April to October, offers clear skies and better trail conditions.

Signal is almost non-existent during days 1 and 2. It is the perfect time for a total disconnect from technology.
