Pikillacta is a large planned city of the Wari culture, which ruled the Andes centuries before the Incas. Its hundreds of stone-and-mud enclosures, laid out in a grid, reveal an approach to urban planning very different from that of the Incas. It’s about 30 km from Cusco. Admission is included in the Cusco Tourist Ticket (Boleto Turístico del Cusco).
